About Joe Tafoya

Joe Tafoya was a blue chip all American linebacker in Pittsburg (CA) high school as team captain and MVP of the Pittsburg Pirates. He then received a scholarship to play at the University of Arizona which at the time had the #1 ranked defense in the NCAA. A 3year starter, he played defensive end racking up 25 career sacks and is second all time with the Wildcats in tackles for loss. He received a bachelors in Communications with a focus on Management Information Systems along with the awards of Team captain and MVP as a senior. During his time in Arizona, the Wildcats had their most successful season in School history winning 12 games and being ranked #4 in the NCAA polls.

He was drafted in the 7th round of the 2001 NFL draft to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under Tony Dungey. Injured in the 1st pre-season game he was released and then picked up by the Chicago Bears where he spent 3 seasons as playing various positions on the defensive line and special teams. He made his first NFC championship game against the Eagles recording a few tackles and pressuring Donavan McNabb.

In 2005 Joe was brought in by the Seattle Seahawks where he helped them to their first Super Bowl appearance in team history. In Seattle for 2 seasons he was second on the team in Special Team tackles.

In 2007 Joe was brought in by the Arizona Cardinals to play Outside linebacker and defensive end where he ended up starting 4 games at the end of the season. In 2008 the Cardinals reached their first Super Bowl appearance in team history but unfortunately Joe suffered a career ending injury and was not able to finish training camp.

In 2010 Joe and his former teammate Chike Okeafor acquired the software development company Viva Vision Inc. where he is now the CEO. They build mobile applications for smartphones. He enjoys fishing, horses, skiing, hiking, muscle cars & construction.

Joe has experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing business.
